Jill Fernelius: Proven Integrity, Data-Driven, and Ready To Serve.

Jill’s life began in West Michigan, where a strict upbringing and limited access to an array of books forged her into a resilient advocate for literacy and student safety. Having overcome many challenges, she is driven by a protective heart and a refusal to back down from doing what is right. Jill views the school board not as a political platform, but as a vital resource to ensure every child has the sanctuary and tools they need to thrive.

Professionally, Jill brings a sharp "risk-mindset" from her 22-year career in banking and corporate finance. She specializes in turning complex data into transparent, actionable stories, ensuring that people’s dollars are protected and treated as serious investments. Rather than accepting vague promises, she focuses on proper frameworks, measurable goals, and fiscal accountability, aiming to bridge the gap between the school board and the community through objective, fact-based leadership.

Now settled on the peninsula with her husband, Scott, and their two sons, Jill’s life is anchored by her faith and a love for community and the outdoors. When she isn't hiking, reading, making banana bread, or tackling home projects, she is focused on raising her boys to be independent and curious. She is running to be a balanced, common-sense voice for District One - someone who prioritizes student outcomes over partisan noise to protect the future of public education.
