What Does the School Board Do?

  • The School Board is the governing body that sets policies, manages the budget, and oversees operations of the public school district in Sumner County.

  • There is one representative for each of the 11 school board districts in Sumner County. Every two years, elections are held for either the odd or even districts.

  • Regular Meetings are on the third Tuesday of each month, unless voted otherwise. Special Meetings (votes can be held) or Study Sessions (no votes are held) are scheduled as necessary.

  • Meetings are open to the public (excluding executive sessions due to potential litigation discussion) and held at 695 East Main Street in Gallatin.
