What I Stand For

As a parent with two kids enrolled in Sumner County public schools, I see what's happening in our schools, I read the financial statements, and I follow the legislative changes in Tennessee. Our public schools are at a crossroads and I want to be the person in this community fighting to get it right for all students.

  • The best solutions come from within. Engaging our community saves money and produces lasting results.

  • When we invest in local talent, local ideas, and local voices, we build creative solutions that are uniquely ours.

  • Our schools reflect our priorities. Right now, only a slim representation of our priorities are showing up at the polls. [1]

Community

Educators

  • Over the last several years, I’ve watched the educators and staff who shaped my kids leave. When they leave, our kids feel it.

  • Turnover is expensive, with estimates ranging from $11,860 for smaller districts to $25,000 for larger districts when factoring for separation, recruitment, hiring, and training. [2]

  • We can't afford to keep losing them. In more ways than one.

Measurable Outcomes

  • We moved to Sumner County for the public schools. Parents deserve clarity into the direction of our schools. Where is the data?

  • If we can't measure it, we can't improve it.

  • We need clear, measurable goals tied directly to student outcomes. That starts with the board requiring them to be made readily available.

Money Tells A Story

  • Our district budget should tell a story. Right now it takes an accountant to find it.

  • Numbers without context don't tell you if things are getting better or worse. Taxpayers deserve a clear picture, not a data dump.

  • When your state ranks last in per pupil spending, you don't get to sit on a surplus and call it responsible.
